小知识， 美国的结婚许可证（marriage license）和结婚证（marriage certificate）

在中国人看来， 结婚许可证（marriage license）是多余的。而结婚证（marriage certificate）功能相同 . 一般讲， 结婚许可证是婚礼主持人（教会神职人员，名人，社区领袖或自封可担当此事的新郎新娘好友）签发的， 而结婚证是在县政府备案的证书。

关键是在于中方人士没有了解英语的Marriage License和Marriage certificate的区别。让他们翻译这一段：

A marriage license is a piece of paper that authorizes you to get married and a marriage certificate is a document that proves you are married.

License是证明你可以结婚，Certificate是证明你在婚姻中。
你们county的结婚证书是把结婚license和结婚certificate设计在一张纸上的，你们结婚后主婚人在上面签字了，marriage certificate 就生效了。
你的证书上指的是license在多少天内有效，没有说certificate会失效。你在license 规定期限内结了婚（有日期为证）所以你是在婚姻中。 |
