actually i think your friend misunderstood the concept of "rising a girl with nice life style".  nice life style is not aka buying them luxury stuff, it is to introduce them into a elegant and intelligent level of life------not fell for someone who has a lot of money because they know a good life is not solely rely on money, but much more tiers of meaning of happiness.  on another hand, a boy need to know it is not easy to make money, they need to know how to fish for their life out of parents' house.  you did a good job with your son, but your friend is a total failure with her daughter-----the girl is so materialistic, she can be nothing but a gold digger.
