try to divide the area of footing (use square feet) with 500lb. if the result is less than 40 pound per square feet, it is safe.

my reply:
The piano is 5'x2', 500/10 = 50 > 40, so it unsafe?? I see many people just put the piano on the floor.

If it is 50 psf. I think it is OK. Because we usually design additional 15 psf for super dead load. So the total limit become 55 psf.

载(钢琴之类)，活载(人，雪)之分。加在一起，设计远超过55磅/平方英尺。设想你
们家，每两平方英尺站个200磅大胖子，能把房子压垮吗？

Put some aluminum supports under the floor, 6in by 6in and 1/4in thick would spread the weight enough to prevent damaging the flooring.
