Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators have again taken to the streets of France to protest against government plans to raise the retirement age.
The French government's plan to lift the retirement age from 60 to 62 is expected to pass comfortably through the senate tomorrow.
President Nicolas Sarkozy says the proposed reforms will save $99 billion and are needed to keep the pension system viable.
But workers have staged a third day of protests, arguing the government should instead be looking at taxes on certain bonuses and on the highest incomes.
It was the first demonstration to be held on a non-working day, with many women and families joining the protesters for the first time.
Unions say women, part-timers and the former unemployed will be the hardest hit.
